Ensemble Offspring is very excited to be part of the inaugural 2017 BackStage series.
We believe the BackStage Music Series is a wonderful and much needed new initiative for Sydney. BackStage will genuinely help to address the dire lack of classical, art music and chamber music venues in this beautiful but challenging city of ours. The development of a new small-medium venue in inner Sydney is really of high priority for Ensemble Offsprungin a climate where performance opportunities for talented emerging and established local and international musicians are far and few between.
For our BackStage premiere we plan to feature our own national Hatched Academy artists alongside our experienced Ensemble Offspring core musicians. Hatched is our intensive music program designed to provide practical experience to the next generation of innovative young Australian musicians. This BackStage performance will be a wonderful opportunity for the 2017 Hatched performers Kieran Welch (viola) and Luke Carbon (clarinet) who are from Brisbane and Melbourne respectively to perform as soloists and in combination with Ensemble Offspring musicians for a warm Sydney audience.
The program will feature works new to Sydney audiences by Missy Mazzoli, Eve de Castro-Robinson, Ivana Radovanovic and Aussie premieres from Connor d’Netto and Chris Perren, with some synchronised swimming thrown in for good measure!
